ARCH – Arts, Creativity and Heritage – Building Bridges is a new association for maintained schools and academies in the Stroud District of Gloucestershire. Its aim is to provide opportunities to registered schools for professional artist led creative projects in the arts inspired by heritage.
ARCH was set up in 2013 following Connections, a pilot creative music project inspired by canal and railway heritage. Following interest from around half the schools in the District, and an investigative period led by a local steering committee, a board of trustees was elected and a constitution adopted at an open formal meeting held in June 2014. Since then the board and the Project Manager have worked towards registering 22 schools for the first delivery period of 2015-2016, develop potential projects and cluster partnerships, gain charitable status and raise the funding needed to support the programme.
